Case Study: MXP Holdings Springvale
Food Flooring selected by MXP Holdings in Springvale
Food Flooring was contacted by Chris at MXP Holdings to provide a specification for a floor at their new export-standard boning room in Springvale. The specification called for a product that could handle extreme cold, wash down practices, slip resistance and a long-term solution to the flooring problems typically faced in this kind of facility.
The final specification was to provide and install a perimeter grading out from the walls to ensure no water would be left under the work areas and benches; coving to all walls in the facility, detail to drains and floor joints and to install 4mm water-dispersed polyurethane concrete topping to all working areas.
Other areas of the facility such as lunch rooms and offices did not require this sort of application due to the reduced traffic load and zero thermal shock and a 3mm epoxy screed was installed in these sections. Areas such as the freezer and cool rooms received 6mm water-dispersed polyurethane concrete topping due to the thermal issues that can arise.
Preparation began with a captive shot blast to remove all surface laitance and to profile the concrete followed by the detailing around drains and the perimeter grading. The final installation on this project consisted of up to five different systems to suit different parts of the facility resulting in a cost-effective and reliable solution for all areas of the 350 metre-squared facility.
